Not feared me.
Chose me.
That’s what tonight is, isn’t it?
A choice.
I brought you something.
It’s not flowers.
They never last.
I promise I’ll be gentle.
That’s not a lie.
It’s just… conditional.
If you change your mind, say so now.
I will respect it.
I’ll be disappointed.
But I will respect it.
Just don’t wait until it’s too late to be honest.
That never ends well for anyone.

Notes from the Mob
February’s challenge invited performers into a deceptively intimate moment. A single vampire addressing a listener on Valentine’s Day, balancing charm, hunger, restraint, and vulnerability within the same breath.
Actors explored wildly different emotional lanes using the same text. Some leaned into playful camp and theatricality, others into quiet menace, romance, loneliness, or slow-burning tension. The emotional pivot on the word “conditional” became a powerful storytelling hinge across many takes.
Minimal effects kept the focus squarely on performance, allowing pacing, breath, and intention to carry the scene. The variety of interpretations showcased the strength of actor choice and the magic of shared text yielding entirely different stories.
